Increase in child pornography reports

In 2015, Meldpunt Kinderporno received 25,347 separate reports of child pornography, up by 54% from 2014. A total of 63,056 images, videos and websites presumably featuring child pornography were analysed. Of the material reported, 75% proved illegal.

INHOPE introduced the IC-CAM database at the end of 2014. Developed in collaboration with ZiuZ, IC-CAM compares reported material with illegal material on the Interpol database. Material new to Interpol is sent off for analysis. Instead of merely registering the website, IC-CAM is able to process all material on a website. This has led to an increase in so-called ‘secondary reports’, which partly explains the 54% increase.
